Private vertical garden in Barcelona

Fytotextile system in the interior courtyard of a single-family home

The goal of this project was to create an ornamental vertical garden in the inner courtyard of a private residence in Barcelona, using a lightweight textile module system, adapted to semi-shade outdoor conditions, and including smart irrigation and integrated lighting elements.

Project Description

The solution is based on Fytotextile modules by Terapia Urbana, covering a total surface of 6 m², with a planting density of 36 units/m². Selected plant species are suited to partial sunlight and semi-shade exposures.

The planting design features sinuous diagonal bands that cut across the module grid, creating a sense of movement and organic structure. Volumetric accents provide depth and highlight key visual points.

The irrigation system consists of drip lines connected to a Bluetooth-controlled timer, allowing the owners to manage watering schedules directly via smartphone.

In addition, two warm LED wall lights for outdoor use (IP65 rated, graphite grey finish) were installed to complement and enhance the garden’s visibility and aesthetic during nighttime.

CONCLUSIONS

A compact, efficient and elegant vertical garden designed for residential use, combining aesthetic intent with practical, low-maintenance solutions tailored to the site conditions.
